Hoping For The Best On BlackBerry Board of Directors' Exploration of Strategic Alternatives
Since BlackBerry 10 was launched, so many unfavorable stories and obviously biased reviews came out mostly from the other camps, for one, this was because of BB's lack of marketing strategies being put into.
The creation of a "Special Committee of the Board to explore any strategic alternatives to enhance value and increase scale in order to accelerate BlackBerry 10 deployment", I think is already a long overdue strategy.
Now I can say, that my observations, i.e.: weak marketing campaigns for Z10, Q10 and Q5; slow actions put together between BB and carriers on different issues like that of Etisalat here in UAE where BBM voice chat is still not available, soft launching and opening of the first BlackBerry store in the Middle East located at Dubai Mall in the emirate of Dubai which most likely happen unnoticed by many, so on and so forth; were perhaps due to the lack of full support from the Board of Directors.
To me, this strategy could have implemented prior to launching of BB 10 OS, Z10, Q10 and Q5 phones. But still, these lapses won't change my loyalty and faith to this smartphone pioneering brand.
"We continue to see compelling long-term opportunities for BlackBerry 10, we have exceptional technology that customers are embracing, we have a strong balance sheet and we are pleased with the progress that has been made in our transition. As the Special Committee focuses on exploring alternatives, we will be continuing with our strategy of reducing cost, driving efficiency and accelerating the deployment of BES 10, as well as driving adoption of BlackBerry 10 smartphones, launching the multi-platform BBM social messaging service, and pursuing mobile computing opportunities by leveraging the secure and reliable BlackBerry Global Data Network", said Thorsten Heins, President and Chief Executive Officer of BlackBerry.
With these three probabilities at hand like joint ventures, alliances or worst possibility of selling the company, as some of the things that the committee will look into, I'd say, selling the company should not and must not happen. :)
What I see is that, through the committee, the weak concerns I've mentioned above will be dealt with accordingly. And that they'll present a big bang and a very strong message to the world that BlackBerry is indeed, moving and here to stay.
